One Stop Essentials Kit Guide

ONE STOP KITS

When you’re just starting out in the world of hydroponics, it can be hard to know exactly what you’re going to need and also where to start. At One Stop, we like to make it easy, so we’ve selected all the components you’d need to get going and created an Essentials Kit.

The kits come in both in 1.2m x 1.2m with a single 600w light and 1.2m x 2.4m with 2 600w lights depending on your growing space. The kits are designed to ensure that you get the best quality at the best prices available, so let’s run through the kit!

Let start with the tent:

The BudBox lite, the little brother of the top spec BudBox pro range. For the price, these tents are insane quality; there really is no other tent on the market that competes.

You’re getting a tough, durable and well-stitched tent fabric tent with interlocking heavy duty poles which will easily take the weight of your lighting and extraction. The material is completely light proof unlike a lot of lower end tents, and you also get quality zips to prevent light leaks. There’s nice additional features such as double lined extraction ports.

This is the perfect tent to start growing in as it offers everything you need to get to grips with putting a tent up and setting up your grow space.

The lighting:

It’s important to match your lighting to your space, a 600w light is ideal for a 1.2m x 1.2m area. Our essentials kit gives you the choice between a magnetic black pro ballast or a digital ballast, and both are combined with a 600w dual spectrum lamp and classic euro reflector.

Magnetic Black Pro ballasts are tried and tested, hard wearing and reliable, we sell these in their hundreds to both beginners and cost-conscious growers setting up large scale. If it’s within budget, for only £30 extra we would recommend upgrading to the digital ballast.

Going digital gives you the ability to swap between 250w, 400w, 600w and overdrive settings which increases output by 5-10%. This means that during peak temperatures (it can actually get hot in the UK!) you can lower your output to keep the temperature in your grow room down rather than having to stop all together. Digital ballasts also output more light than magnetic and keep much cooler in day to day running.

You also get your hanging equipment included and a heavy duty LUMii time switch.

The extraction:

Environment is everything. Keeping your plants in conditions as close to nature as possible will ensure that you get the biggest, most flavoursome crop. With this in mind, we made sure you have the correct extraction gear, essential to maintaining your environment.

You have a choice between the industry standard RVK fan, and the dual speed ram fan. both of the kits come with a rhino hobby filter, ducting and clips.

It’s up to you which you go for, both fans will do the job, the RVK is an industry legend, most experienced growers will have owned one at some point Tthe RAM fans speed selection does give you more control over your environment without having to get a separate fan speed controller. If you go with the RVK, we’d recommend looking at the SMSCom smart controller and temp sensor, or even just a £9.95 Varispeed controller will do the trick.

As with the light kit you get hanging kit and all the bits you need for fully functioning extraction. If you want to learn how to setup your extraction, checkout our video guides as they’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Essential Extras

With the kit we give you 4, 12 litre root pouches. They incorporate root pruning – to give you a basic understanding of this, when the root pushes out the edge of the pot, the air kills off the end of the root, this sends a signal to the plan to produce another root. So unlike in plastic pots where you get clumped, circling roots, you get a much bigger, stronger radial root mass which means bigger plants.

Although you will get away with using the base tray in the tent to capture any run-off it’s always a good idea to grab some pot saucers to keep things neat!

So, all you need to get at this point is media and nutrients. A lot of growers have their own thoughts on this, so we’ve left it open to you, because different people enjoy growing in different ways.

If you don’t know where to start, we recommend going for Canna Coco Pro Plus; it’s a really high-quality coco, and a favourite in store. Unlike soil, coco doesn’t come with any nutritional content, allowing you to start from scratch.

Nutrient wise, Mills do a great, simple starter pack with everything you’ll need for a full cycle. It comes with the feed chart to allow you to follow feeding instructions.

It’s also worth investing into a pH and EC kit too. If you look after it, it’ll last you many crops and will give you detailed readings of your nutrient to make sure they’re being uptaken properly. If you want to learn how to administer your nutrients, checkout our video!

So that’s everything to get you going! We’re always on hand to guide you through it, over the phone, on our website, email (customerorders@onestopgrowshop.co.uk) or social media.

Happy growing!
